Why won’t you let me be?

It’s pointless
To show contempt
A fruitless,
futile, attempt

Destroying outside
Won’t provide insight
And the feelings inside
Will stay alight

Did you think all this lying,
lying,
and lying,
doesn’t hurt me too?
When all my attempts of trying,
trying,
and trying,
Wounds me more than you.

You need to be free,
as much as me
If you agree,
why not let me be?

Can’t you see?
The flame’s already lit
And your decree
won’t change me a bit

Why won’t you let me be?

Did you think I’d be happy?
With what you do to me?
How should I show;
as far as things go
I would not feel glee
Until you guarantee
You’ll fulfill my plea

Don’t deprive me of what I’ve hasp,
My hand won’t hand what it keeps
All you want you can go on and rasp,
But you can’t snatch feelings deep

You can’t open the fingers shut
Guarding what belongs to me
Getting yourself in a rut
When it’s easy to let me be.
