11.01.08Feminists; Hating Women Alike?
FIRSTLY: I apologize for whatever generalization may be found here. I certainly don’t mean any offense except to those I direct it to. Sorry for its messiness; this came rather suddenly.
Something that has been concerning me in both fandom and real life is the girl-hating attitude commonly found in those of that gender.
Housewives; target of these so-called “feminists”. Look, girls; just because gender equality has been promoted and women now have the rights to work as whatever they want doesn’t mean that all women need to be careerwomen. Women being allowed to do manly jobs doesn’t equal women aren’t allowed to do womanly jobs.
Being a housewife, maid, or whatever jobs have been deemed as “womanly jobs” doesn’t make you any less of a woman than one high up in the social ladder. Just because you choose to stay at home doesn’t mean you’re a meek, mindless, uneducated girl.
Feel free to follow your career ambitions, but just because someone doesn’t have the same wants as you doesn’t mean you should force it onto them. Besides, since when is homemaking easy? Kids, and husbands, can really mess up the house. You have to keep all that in order (ha, precisely why I want a househusband), prepare food… no break on Sundays either.
Besides, women with career have it easy with the society (not counting chauvinistic men or other career-women-demeaning figures). Take a look at Scenario A:
Event: Woman gets a “manly” job
Response: “Wow! So cool! See, a woman can do a man’s job just as well! Kakkoi! Sugoi ne! Ahaaha. *fangirl*”
… and Scenario B:
Event: Man gets a “womanly” job; say, hairdresser, or manicurist
Response: “GAAAAAAY”
:/
Not that I’d consider being homosexual bad, but the world “gay” has a bad connotation, see. Think of it as being… weird.
I also disagree with the fact that women can do all of men’s jobs better. Things such as being the CEO of a company, I’d agree with, but say, things that needs physical power, such as lifting up stuff…
Let’s face it. Men are built to be stronger than women. Maybe there are some exceptions, but most of the time, men are better at it anyway (I also can’t think of any friend of mine who wants to be a mule).
Bonus: How about Fandom?
Now, for those of you in fandom, especially but not limited to the anime fandom, which is packed full of these “feminists”:
Girls are usually hated on for being “weak” (women are built to be weaker physically than men), “emotional” (girls also tend to be more emotional than guys), “too happy” (now it’s wrong to be satisfied with what you have?), and other idiotic reasons.
Here are the different responses usually found from these fans:
1) A cold, heartless character
Male: “Wooow! So cool! He’s so ruthless… but so cool! Bishonen!”
Female: “Bitch!”
2) A happy, innocent character
Male: “So cute! He’s adorable! Aww…”
Female: “She’s so stupid! The world isn’t all sunshine and daisies, you know!”
3) A manipulative, sly character
Male: “So cool!”
Female: “Bitch!”
4) An emotional character
Male: “So cute… how sensitive… I feel sorry for him!”
Female: “God! Stop getting in the way and actually do something other than crying!”
5) A powerful/knowledgeable character
Male: “So cool!/So smart!”
Female: “Mary-Sue!/Know-it-all!”
etc.
Note that this doesn’t apply to fandom in general, but rather the stupid side of it. ^^;
Strangely enough, I’m fonder of girl characters? I try not to let their gender make me excuse whatever their bad qualities may be, and treat them just like guy characters, but I always end up loving them more anyway. XDDDD
